What do I do if my prescription runs out before my next office visit?

We fill routine prescriptions during scheduled office visits. Please check with your pharmacy to see if you have additional refills remaining on your prescriptions. When you call the office for a refill, be sure to have your pharmacy phone number available to give to our staff. You may be due for a follow-up appointment if refills are needed.

What are your billing requirements?

Patients must pay any co-payments at the time of their visit. Patients are responsible to pay any amounts, such as deductibles, co-payments and co-insurance that their insurance company designates is their responsibility. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Which insurances do you accept?

We currently accept most insurances to include:

  • Anthem
  • Optima
  • United Healthcare
  • Aetna
  • Cigna
  • Medicare
  • Humana

Please call us if you have any additional questions regarding the insurances we carry. We ask that you bring your insurance card to your appointment.

He is known to follow you to the hospital. Once you become a patient of Family Medicine Healthcare we treat you like family.

We want you to see the “right” specialist for your unique healthcare needs. This ensures you receive timely care. Because at Family Medicine Healthcare we want you to get better, quicker.

How do I obtain a prescription renewal?

For prescription refills you may call your pharmacy or simply call our office. Please provide 24 – 48 hours for your medication to be sent to your pharmacy. Also provide your pharmacy information so we may send your prescription electronically.

Do you offer same day appointments?

Yes, we offer same day appointments. We prefer you call ahead for your appointment and the office staff will add you to the schedule where appropriate. You may also walk in for an appointment, however, you may experience longer than usual wait times. We will always do our best to accommodate our patients.

What happens if I need lab-work? Will I need to go to a lab?

Our Licensed Practical Nurses all have had venipuncture training and are able to draw labs from patients in the office. We will send your lab-work to any lab of your choice or one that is part of your insurance contract. Please let your nurse know the lab of your preference and we will do our best to accommodate your needs. By offering in-office labs we are able to save you time and money.

If I switch doctors will I need to repeat all my previous testing?

No. When you come into the office for your new patient appointment bring the information of your previous providers and we will request your previous tests from these providers.

How long will my appointment take?

Typically new patient appointments are longer than when you are a returning patient. At times, emergencies do occur in the office and our providers need to take time to stabilize the emergent condition. Our promise to you is that we will take the time necessary to address your condition.

What does my insurance cover and how will I know what I will owe during my doctor visit?

During your visit we will make every effort to provide you with the best and highest level of service at the least cost to you. We do not know the particulars of your health contract nor does the insurance company share this information with providers. However, we have extensive experience in billing and are able to answer most of your questions regarding coverage issues as per general insurance policies.

What is my co-pay and why do I owe you money when I pay for insurance?

Your co-pay is established by your insurance provider through a negotiated contract with your or your primary card-holder’s employer. Co-pays are owed at every encounter based on your insurance.

Where is my prescription?

Unless requested otherwise, all prescriptions are sent electronically to your pharmacy. Controlled substances cannot be sent to the drugstore electronically and must be written on a hard prescription for presentation to the pharmacist.

How do you accommodate business professionals?

I am a professional, and most Doctors offices are only open Monday – Friday until 5. What will you do to accommodate my busy schedule?
We offer early appointments at 8 am on Tuesdays and Thursdays as well as late appointments at 5:30 pm on those days. We are also willing to accommodate you by providing lunch appointments. Simply ask the front desk if you’re interested.
